Buttons, Buttons, and More Buttons!

Do you know how amazing it is to get three toddlers down for naps at the same time?  I find myself with (hopefully) 3 whole hours to get things done!  Wow!  I know that those of you who are moms will understand my jubilation and amazement!  Now, on to todays topic!

I don't know if you all know it, but I love buttons.  I have a large button collection.  It all started when my Grandma Marce gave me a tin of buttons that had belonged to my Aunt April (her daughter.).  Aunt April died when I was a baby, so I didn't really ever know her.  I have been told she was a pretty neat lady, so when I got the buttons, it was a little like getting to know her.  Since then I have added to the collection.  This weekend I added to the collection yet again!

The 30th was our 10 year anniversary.  We didn't take a big trip, we stayed local.  We went to Staunton and Raphine.  There was an excellent auction in Raphine, in an old barn.  Its one of the best I've ever been to!  They had seats for everyone, the auctioneer was funny and very fair, and he had a good memory!  I'll be showing you more of what we got later, but for now here is the box of buttons we got.
There were a lot of metal buttons and a few rhinestone buttons, these are my favorites!  Here are a few that I thought were kind of unique looking.

A few months ago a friend was looking for a few buttons to finish an invitation and asked if I had any I would mind parting with.  Hmmm, well I have a few.
So, why all the button talk?  I have joined Sweet Beads Studio for the Button Swap and Blog Hop!  We are supposed to choose 4 buttons and send them to our swap buddy.  Now tell me, how do you only choose 4?  I am having a hard time.  After we get our buttons, we are supposed to use at least one in a project and post about it.  I am looking forward to seeing what buttons I get.  My button buddy lives not too far from where I grew up, and we both love vintage buttons.  She makes some great jewelry too!  Next week I will introduce her to you!
Hope you all are having a great week!

  1. I have some lovely buttons that used to belong to my mum, they are a treasured collection! I can remember as a child going to a shop with a big container of buttons that I loved to just run my hand through it was a wonderful sensation!

  4. How fun! I love old buttons too. I recently had friends bring me back a small bag of buttons that they picked up at a flea market while on vacation. That was fun and I've already used a few. Remember the pearl necklace I made you? The silver button cover thingy was in that collection. Enjoy all those buttons!
