Two weeks ago I was given an award! Its my first blogging award. However, it comes with strings! I have to tell you 7 things about myself, and pass it on to 7 other bloggers who have been inspirational to me. Yikes!
So, here goes the 7 things about me you may or may not know, in no particular order.
1. I am the oldest of 3 girls. No, don't feel sorry for my dad, he held his own in a house full of women, trust me!
2. I am a native of Southern California, but I now live in Central Virginia! Yes, I do miss California. I miss the Pacific ocean, the "real" mountains that are tall enough there is a tree line, I miss the desert in spring, I miss good apricots, and cheap good citrus fruit, I miss the nearly 75 degree weather year round. I do not miss the traffic, the crowds, or the smog.
3. The first time I met my husband I was 12 and he was 17, and no, he does not remember meeting me. We saw each other various times over the years, but when I was 21 and he was 26 he came to California with his family and we "met" again, and that was all she wrote, we married 1 year and 1 month later, and we have been married for nearly 9 years now.
4.I don't mind bugs, but camelback crickets and tomato worms just give me the willies!
5. I have a baby grand piano, and I don't know how to play. (awful, I know.)
6. I know how to put together all the pipes under your kitchen sink, I have actually done it before!
7.I hate, hate, hate doing paper work, and filing. I will find ANY excuse not to do it, even cleaning my baseboards is preferable to doing paperwork.
Let me introduce you to some blogs now.
First up is All Things Vintage, by Sara. Sara's blog is fairly new, I believe she has only had it about 2 months now. I see a lot of potential here though! She recently recovered a chair for her craft room, and also told about a bunch of great finds on a recent trip to Virginia! Sara makes quilts, bags and necklaces, and does so many other crafty things.
Now we have Confessions of a Curbshopaholic! I love this blog for so many reasons, the biggest of which, I am a curbshopaholic as well. Rose has so many amazing ideas! Actually, Rose is just amazing in general! She decided that her kitchen needed some sprucing up, so she woke up early and got started. She painted bead board, painted trim, painted window trim, painted cabinets, after all that painting she decided she just didn't like how the white tiles in her checkerboard floor looked. So, she pulled them up and replaced them with nice new gray ones. All in ONE weekend! Frankly, I was amazed, I still am amazed. If you need some get up and go, check out Curbshopaholic!
Now, if you like food, and who doesn't right? Check out Crazy Daisy for some wonderful recipes! Things like Cinnamon Honey Butter, Chocolate Toffee Crunch Popcorn, Caramel Sticky Buns, and easy yummy Fudge! I've tried several of her recipes, all I can say is yum!
If you would like a bit of humor, with practicality, with an Aussie twist, hop on over to Five Brothers One Sister! Deanne has some of the cutest kids, and she does some wonderful photos of them, as well as her home. She decorates, she home schools, and a whole lot more, I don't know how she does it! Plus, it is just so much fun to see what is going on in another country that is having summer, while we have winter! Oh yeah, and she makes me laugh!
If you have a dull oak cabinet filled kitchen then you need to hop on over to A Vintage Vine. Lisa just updated her drab oak cabinets into a fabulous black and white. Her granite counter tops really pop now! She has so many other great ideas as well so hop on over!!
Need another kitchen remodel idea? Or just fun thrifty ideas in general? Then you need to visit Binkies and Briefcases. They just finished remodeling their kitchen. I cannot believe how patient they were, they searched and searched for just the right deal on cabinets and found a complete set on Craigslist of all things! Then they decided to make an island out of an old dresser! This was truly an awesome project and was featured on Remodelaholic, another favorite blog!
Last, but certainly not least, is The Smith Hotel. This lady is oh so crafty, she has an etsy store with some wonderful goodies, and she has an antique booth that she keeps fully stocked! This lady has some wonderful redo's and she tells you how so you can do your own. She recently had major surgery, and guess what, she is still crafting away in her pj's!
I hope you will stop in and take a look at these blogs, they are all relatively new, and show so much potential!

Wow! Thank you so much for passing this award on to me! It's my first blog award! I'm also the oldest of 3 and a curbshopaholic, so it sounds like we have a lot in common. :)
