Today I am linking up to
Funky Junk Interiors Gitter Done party. This is just what it sounds like, a challenge to get that project or projects done that you keep putting off for numerous reasons.
My project: the master bedroom closet. It is a walk in closet, which I always thought I would totally love, but thus far it has been a love/hate relationship. You know how when you have unexpected company you rush around grabbing what you can, and then toss it into a closet that you know they won't open? Well, that's my closet, and this is what happens when you don't go back and get that "stuff" out. Wait, don't look yet, its just too embarrassing!! Okay, I guess you have to look. I'd like to tell you I'm not really like this, that I never let my house get like this, but then my mom would read this and tell you that I'm lying, that my room even looked like this sometimes when I was younger. So......

Where's the floor? | |
Horrible isn't it!!! I could not believe it got that bad, but it did. So, I spent the last week, little by little, working on it and putting things away, and organizing. I am not totally done, I need to make a trip to Marshall's or TJ Maxx for some more storage baskets (or maybe Goodwill). Then I need to make some basket liners that match, but that will come later. Here is what it looks like now!

Look, we found the floor!! |
So, I re purposed some baskets from the Monkey's room, added one from Goodwill $1.95 (the cream one) and organized my sweaters so they are no longer leaning piles that fall off the shelves at will. Also got a CD holder for my audio books, free at a yard sale. Went through all my cloths and pulled out everything I no longer wear, or can't wear, then arranged everything by color. Picked up a couple of old stacking baskets for $5 a piece at my favorite antique barn, and the other locker style box came from Lowe's long ago. Now all of Hubby's sporting goods fit in one spot and are neat and organized. I am much happier with this closet, and let me tell you, so is Hubby!! I still want to put up a pegged rack on the wall, (one you can't see) to hang bags, hats, etc on, but there will be no cost involved as I have everything on hand! Total cost so far $21!
So, do you have a Gitter Done job waiting for you? Well, go ahead and tackle it now, then next month you can link up with Funky Junk Interiors to show off how hard you worked!
Hope you all are having a great week so far!
Melissa

Melissa, good for you!! And I have some news for you. One of my Gitter Done's will be TWO closets that look FAR worse than yours ever could.
ReplyDeleteI'd bet it feels amazing to walk through yours right now and grab the tshirt you desire for the day. I'd be dancing in that thing!
Great GD3 entry!

You did an excellent job of tidying up and organizing your closet. Isn't that a great feeling? Bravo! :) Pam @ Sallygoodin
ReplyDeleteIt looks very organized and that is so important, it will keep you from going crazy when it's time to get dressed. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you all! Every time I walk into this closet I just grin, I want to sit down and bask in the organization! Now, I just need to get the rest of the house like this! I'm working on it, a little (very little) at a time!
ReplyDeleteHey Mel--you were featured on funky junk's side bar! Closet looks great! That is my next project after the ragamuffins room. I'm planning on ripping out everything and starting fresh! Super excited about it. Hope you are enjoying yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I bet you're breathing better now huh? My closet has gotten just like that and it makes me want to hyperventilate! I need to do a little clothes weeding in mine. :)
