The Menace!!!

So, what do this:

these,

and the female version of this person,

have in common?

THIS!!!!

Yep, you've already guessed it.  Little Monkey decided to help herself to my sewing scissors.  She then proceeded to cut up the brand new Gymboree skirt that Grandma had bought for her just days before.  I haven't even removed the tag yet!!!  Needless to say, her name was MUD.  When I found it, I was completely irritated, frustrated, and plain old exasperated!  I mean, what on earth possessed her to pick up get into my sewing desk for scissors and cut up a new skirt?  I don't know.  It still irks me every time I look at it.  I just cannot believe she did it.

All that said, I think I can salvage it.  It was too long, so I think, (think being the operative word) that I can pullout the stitches on the middle ruffle, and then cut the lower ruffle just above the decorative stitching.  I can then create a new middle ruffle out of the lining, which is made out of the same fabric, and then reattach the bottom ruffle.  The skirt will be shorter for sure, but should still be fine.  I just didn't want to have to do this much work!!  Ah well, as my dad would say, "don't sweat the small stuff, cause its all small stuff!"  In the grand scheme of things, this is a small thing!
Hope you are having a happy Wednesday!
Melissa

  2. Oops! What a bummer. Couldn't she have picked something in the "to go to Goodwill" pile instead of a new skirt? Ha well. The joys of parenting. Just be glad it wasn't her hair like my darling daughter did. Remember that? Sounds like you can salvage it and that is a good thing. Think of it as a learning experience for both you and your daughter. ;)
