A New Adventure

I'm sure you all have wondered why I have been a bit scattered lately, no?  Oh well, thats okay.  I'll tell you anyway.

As you know, we are loveres of junk antiques/vintage items.  We have been collecting for a lot of years now, and well, we have way too much stuff.  For the last year Hubby and I have been talking about getting an antique booth at one of the local shops.  For the last 6 months we have been talking to store owners about their prices, and what type of buyers they have, what items seem to move, and also talking to booth owners themselves.  Two weeks ago Monday Hubby went to the Gordonsville Antique and Flea Market shop just to look around.  Sonny, the owner mentioned that he had a booth opening and wondered if we wanted it.  Hubby came home and we talked and decided that yes, it was worth it. We have spent the last two weeks pulling stuff out of the attic, the garage, closets, cleaning, pricing and researching, lots of researching!  Hubby has had to do most of the set up because I have too many munchkins during the day to try to take them to an antique store, I would end up owning lots of broken things!

Here are a few pictures of what the booth looked like on Saturday, let me just say that it has changed!
Ironstone, vintage hats, Coca Cola crate

That white stool is gone!!

Antique Anvil
 /
pulleys and rope, antique gear from a grain mill, huge antique clamp

Large gear from an old grain mill

see the little gold lion pigge bank? He has a new home!

Vintage camera, old spools, folding ruler, blue insulator, antique tools, and ironstone, some of the ironstone went on Monday!
Hubby went up on Monday and there were quite a few things that were gone!  Yeah!!!  When you are setting up a booth, there is this niggling fear that you will sell nothing!!  It is so exciting to realize you are selling things.  According to the shop owner our booth seems to be a favorite.  Saturday I took some stock in and before I left the store I had already sold one of the items!  So far, we are having a lot of fun with this, and I think it will continue to be a lot of fun.
If anyone is interested in visiting the store, it is the Gordonsville Antique and Flea Market located on RT. 15, just a 1/4 mile east of "downtown" Gordonsville.  If you are coming from Rt. 64 you would exit the Zion Crossroads/Gordonsville exit and head West toward Gordonsville, it will be on your right across from Clockner Rd.

If you see something you are interested in, let me know we do ship!

  1. Congratulations, Melissa! Your booth looks fantastic, & looks full of wonderful treasures. If you were closer, I would definitely be there looking around. Good luck -- hope you keep selling, selling, selling!

  2. Good for you. It is always fun to do something together with your best friend. I see you are leaning toward a lot of primitive items. We have a mixture of a little bit of everything. Probably too much of a mixture. I will email you.
