Not Your Normal Enamel Ware

First, sorry for the absence, it has been a crazy few days!  Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to download pics from my new phone (yay!) and then I can show what we've been up to!  Yes, I have once again joined the 21 st century.  Hubby decided to change cell carriers so we got new phones.  Since US Cellular just happened to have a buy one get one deal on the Android Desire, I now have a smart phone!  I've never had a phone with texting and a camera, and internet access, I have to admit I am loving it!!  Anyway, on to today's topic!

I have seen lots of beautiful enamel ware on various blogs lately.  I love enamel ware.  It has so many versatile uses.  One thing you don't see all that often is colorful enamel ware.  If you have followed my blog for long you know that I LOVE color!  I see lots of pretty white pieces like these...

This is one of mine! Just picked it up too!

While I think the white enamel ware is beautiful, its not quite me.  I prefer colorful enamel ware, no not the speckled blue or black stuff that my mom used to have for when we went camping.  I have four pieces that I love, and that are somewhat unusual.  The funny thing about 3 of them, hubby found them when he was out junkin' by himself!  I must admit, it is great to have a hubby who loves junkin' as much as I do!

First up is an old blue coffee pot, its a little worse for wear, but that's why I love it.  This one sits on my kitchen counter.

Second, is a recent buy, hubby bought it at an auction one night while I was home sick.  ( I know some of you might be thinking "why wasn't he home with you?" honestly, when I am sick I just want to be by myself and have everyone leave me alone. Yes, I am a grumpy sick person. Sorry.)  When hubby pulled this one out of the box, it was missing the spout.  The spout was inside, but before he told me it could be fixed he just smiled and said "I looked at this thought you would figure out some way to make it useful again."  I love that he has that confidence in me!  A little superglue later and I have a new utensil holder.

The third piece is a short sort of squaty yellow pitcher.  She is in almost perfect condition, which is not something you see too often.  She used to be my utensil holder, but she just wasn't tall enough.  She doesn't have a home yet, we'll see where she ends up.

Last but certainly not least we have my favorite piece.  Hubby picked this one up at an antique/junk shop for $10.  I love the color and shape.  It sits on my kitchen table, and is the perfect size for fresh flowers.

I love the simplicity of enamel ware, it is classic, and ageless, and it can fit almost any type of decor.  Keep your eye's out, and you just might find some fun pieces of enamel ware for yourself!

  7. It's awesome that your husband loves junkin'. He picked some awesome pieces. I wish my boyfriend liked junking...he thinks I'm a weirdo, but does like that i'm thrifty.

  8. Melissa, What a sweet husband! Your collection of enamelware is wonderful! I rarely see it in colors other than white. You asked about my garage sale. We live in Moseley, Va which is south of Richmond. I'll be announcing on my blog when we decide to have the sale and I would love to meet you then.

  9. Loving the colored enamelware, Mel! Thanks for including my pic of the chalkboard pan. I'm sorry to hear that you're on US Cellular now instead of AT&T because we won't have the mobile to mobile anymore. I am glad you like your phone though. I'm still in the dark ages with my "dumb" phone but I kind of like it that way. Take care, Aunt Maggie
