Well, I am officially late getting this posted. Sorry! We went camping this weekend and I have been VERY sluggish today.
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the Button Swap Blog Hop over at Sweet Bead Studio. I was immediately intrigued, I love buttons! The idea was to pair up people who also love buttons and have them choose 4 buttons to swap and then make something using at least one of those buttons.
Here are the buttons I sent my partner Theresa of Thoughtful Notions. ( I forgot to take a picture before I mailed them, so I borrowed this one from Theresa!)
Here are the buttons that Theresa sent me.
By the way, she has a great Etsy store you all should check out! I really love this necklace she has for sale!
This is what I wanted to make, but time was not on my side, I did start it, but I'm not real happy with how it is turning out. I will show it to you when it is done, hopefully soon!.
The last three weeks have been busy with my mom visiting, getting ready to go camping, and the usual life stuff so I had to stick with something simple.
I made a satin flower with a pearl button center. I am really happy with how it turned out! I was going to keep it for myself, but decided instead to use it in my Michie Tavern order. So, if you like it, it is available!
I have to tell you, this was my first Swap, and I really liked it! It was so much fun to get to "meet" someone else, and trade pretty buttons. I would definitely do it again!
If you would like to see some really amazing projects that the rest of the Button Swap ladies made, check out this list.
A BIG Thank You to Cindy Wimmer of Sweet Bead Studio for organizing this Swap! You should really check out the incredibly beautiful necklace she made with some of her Swap buttons!
Thanks for stopping in!

Do you have any idea how hard it is to only pick 4 buttons when you have a huge stash? |
There were two of the pearl buttons. |

Beautiful collection of buttons, and just lovely work with those buttons!
ReplyDeleteI love that button bracelet, my daughter just made a charm bracelet for a senior project it makes me think of that all shaky and sparkly love'm. I may have to try my hand at one of those button ones too. I will have to build up my stash quite a bit before I have enough for a bracelet like that one. I really like the head band you made very sweet and PURPLE...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very nice post and for being such a great partner. You are safe in my following list so I can keep in touch.
Take care,
Theresa
Wow..what an insanely neat assortment of buttons you received! This was my first swap too...and I will be doing more too! Love the headband you made...and wow...that bracelet would be something to own, wouldn't it? But that would require a lot of buttons! More excuses to haunt flea markets and start collecting!!!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, you sent your partner such a beautiful assortment of buttons - I especially love those metal buttons I see there! And you received such pretty buttons in return too! That button charm bracelet is going to be so fabulous once you finish it! I have a few I have made as well and enjoy wearing them and all the jingling it makes.
ReplyDeleteYour flower is the perfect way to showcase the pearly button! How pretty! I could see making many more of those, especially since you said you have a ton of buttons! Thanks for participating in this swap and I hope you join again next year!
I just love the bracelet you made. Such pretty colors, and I love the button dangles. I would be playing with this all the time if I were to wear it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That's a fabulous use of your button. I've considered (on and off for a while) making one of those fabric flowers. Yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the pearls over the fabric. Absolutely beautiful, so classy!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you can start the necklace soon, and I hope you are able to put the finishing touches on the bracelet even sooner. Thanks for posting your work and playing along with all of us! <3

That looked like fun. I'm a little late in hearing about this blog swap. Sounds like something fun to try sometime.
