Like this one, too modern, and cost $31.98 plus $12 shipping! |
and this one, which I really loved, that was $24.99 with $10 shipping |
or this one, for $82 plus $12 shipping. |
Then I raided my map stash for the perfect map. I wanted a map that was familiar, someplace I knew well, or had visited. I ended up choosing a map of Virginia. It shows a good portion of the state, mostly the Tidewater area. This map had good colors and contrast.
Here is what the clock looks like now!
I really love how it turned out! The best part? I didn't cost me a thing! I already had everything on hand. That's the best kind of project!! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to post a tutorial so you too can do your own clock!

What a wonderful transformation. I love using maps in my creations and you did such a good job with that plain old clock. I knew it looked familiar...we had one exactly like it hanging in the garage. My husband replaced it with a stupid sports clock and I saved the plain one to repurpose. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow Mel! It's super duper cute! I absolutely love it! Hey--while you are out here do you want to make some homemade soap? I just made some today and I think I'm really going to like it. Also going to be making lip balm and lotion--you in? Love love love the clock!
ReplyDeletep.s. Where are you going to hang it?
ReplyDeleteIt turned out absolutely great...I have some clocks that could stand to be perked up. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteHow unique is that! Love it....I hope the person who gave you this for your wedding gift doesn't read your blog...LOL!!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Lisa
Very Clever, I love all things made with maps.
ReplyDeleteThis would be great in a kids bedroom that we are going to do up shortly that will have a bit of a map thing happening.
I love it! It is so perfect. You did a great job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Would work great for my boy's room-will keep it in mind.
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteDittos to what Serendipity chic Decor said. :-) I really do like the way the clock turned out. So much cuter than that boring old wedding gift!
ReplyDeleteThis is great!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute!! I have plans for a map themed bathroom once we get around to remodeling it and adding a bathtub! I am saving this for that day!!!
ReplyDeleteYes you did and it looks great! I love maps. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's terrific, Melissa! I never would have thought of that. Aren't you glad you didn't through that "boring" wedding gift away? ;)
